Characterisation of solid-liquid mixing in a plug flow crystalliser using CFD

Why and what conditions would cause solids to settle in a continuous plug flow crystalliser? This project aims to gain scientific understanding to this question by exploring pressure propagation in single phase as well as in two phases with the presence of air bubbles. Two phase simulations will be expanded to include solid-liquid with various particle size distributions. The objective is to understand, control and predict conditions that would lead to solid settling.   

Guillermo obtained his first degree (1st Class) in Chemical Engineering, University of Cantabria, Spain.
