A study of the effect of mixing mechanisms on cooling crystallisation

As part of the Spirit Award and Continuous Manufacturing And Crystallisation (CMAC) initiatives, this project examines the effects of different mixing mechanisms on key parameters of a model cooling crystallisation in both stirred tank crystalliser (STC) and oscillatory baffled crystalliser (OBC). The aim is to explain why nucleation temperature is higher and metastable zone width narrower in OBC than that in traditional STC.

Natalia obtained her first degree in Chemical Engineering (2:1), Heriot-Watt University.
