Development of continuous enzymatic production in a COBR
PhD student: Jianyu WangStart date: 1st April 2023
This BBSRC/Croda/HWU funded PhD studentship investigates the headgroup exchange of phosphatidylcholine with glycerol using a phospholipase enzyme in a continuous oscillatory baffled reactor (COBR). The scientific aspects of the project focus on the understanding of process fundamentals, reaction kinetics and parameters affecting the kinetics, the effects of mixing and mixing phases on enzyme activity , as well as developing in-line analysis to follow the reaction continuously. The technological goals of the project involve establishing operational conditions to achieve the optimal conversion and testing its scale up feasibility and capability.
Jianyu obtained his BEng degree in Energy and Power Engineering at the China University of Petroleum in 2018, his MEng degree in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics at Chongqing University, China in summer 2021.
