Demonstration of Sonication and Microwave Processing of Essential Chemicals (SIMPLI-DEMO) - I

Dr Alexander Riddell - Postdoc

The scientific objectives of the project are to investigate and identify a feasible online PAT tool for continuous monitoring of a pharma API in a reactive crystallisation; to understand the crystallisation kinetics, be able to establish the changes of solute concentration with time, so that the supersaturation profiles can be determined and predicted; to understand the role of seeds, explore the optimal range of supersaturation or pH for the addition of seeds.  The technological goal is to be able to produce the API continuously in a reliable, robust, controlled and predictable manner in industrial settings.

Alex obtained his BSc degree in Chemical Engineering, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA; his MSc in Advanced Materials and Processes in the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany and his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
